Color coded whippings
Standard on all mooring lines are color coded whippings which makes identifying even easier.
Polyester and Dyneema mooring lines
Yachts 40 to 80 meter will typically use Polyester; the longevity is great, and it provides good stretch. Also Polyester mooring lines will stay soft and flexible for longer and lose no strength when wet. Yachts 40 to 80 meter will typically use between 32 and 44mm Polyester mooring lines, this is a great size which provides excellent break loads but still being relatively lightweight.
Yachts over 80 meter will benefit more from Dyneema lines, with almost double the strength in the same diameter as Polyester. This allows a significant reduction in diameter and weight and makes handling a lot easier.
Gleistein Geotwin Polyester and Polyamide
The Gleistein Geo-Twin is the most sold mooring line for superyachts.
The double braided Polyester or Nylon construction with a 12-strand core and a 32 plait cover makes the rope very flexible .
Nylons has great stretch and is strong, but looses about 15% strength when wet. Also will nylon shrink a bit due to UV radiation making the rope hard after a few seasons. Polyester mooring lines are abrasion resistant, stay flexible for longer and does not lose strength when wet.

Gleistein FLX mooring system
Mooring line stretchers
Gleistein has developed a great mooring system combining the benefits of both dyneema and polyester or nylon.
The FLX mooring system uses the dyneema X-twin as the main main mooring line which have a SK78 dyneema core and protective polyester cover. The Dyneema X-twin mooring lines are light and flexible and so very easy to handle. Because of the extreme strength of dyneema you can downsize diameter of the rope.Â
The main disadvantage of dyneema is the lack of sufficient stretch. Therefore Gleistein uses polyester stretcher in a length of around 5 meter. These stretchers are produced as a continues loop, and are cow hitched onto the main mooring line while the other side of the stretcher is connected to the dock.
This stretcher reduces the shock-loads on main mooring lines, significantly increasing the life-span.

In a time of declining customer service and experience from large companies, Jan Pieter and the More Marine team provide a fantastic experience from quoting process to delivering exactly what was asked for in the time frames given.
A pleasure to deal with, I would highly recommend More Marine
Great service and advice from More Marine. We purchased the 36mm Dyneema lines with stretchers and they do help with handling compared to thicker polyester lines. The delivery was received on time in Genoa and contacts at More Marine were always on hand to update.
